My first attempts

I downloaded the cs6 trial today and decided to throw my first attempts at gfx.
Here’s what I made, it’s just some basic shit since I’m new to it.

version1

version2

For a beginner they aren’t bad, did you make this by yourself or did you use tutorials for this?
In my opinion it’s better (but slower) to explore a programme by yourself first then to just search a tutorial up, but that could just be me :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyways, if you would like to go through with GFX in Photoshop, I’d recommend you this video :

I made them by myself, exploring the program
thanks ill check it out

I see, well sir I must say that I am seeing a talent here then.
And not because these signatures are all awesome or so, but because I always see potential in people who explore programmes before going into tutorials.
I am impressed.

Thanks a lot!
I’d add without using tutorials you stay original.

You will stay original indeed.
With that added, I will also add that when you explore programmes by yourself, and teach yourself the things that you want to know, you will develop your own unique style.
Something that is far to be found in the Pixelated world we go by these days.

I have a crack for CS6. :expressionless:

gimme

PM me TV Info.

Added a new one, not sure what to think about the last one, at one side I kinda like it but at the other side it’s missing something.
feedback?

I would add a glow to the text itself, (which goes by selecting the layer with your right mousebutton and going into the Blending Options btw, just a quick tip if you haven’t found out by yourself).
And maybe a nice grunge look to the rest of it

If you’re on a Pc you just need to download Adobe White Rabbit. It’s prob on youtube or w/e. It’s like no serials and generators and shit. You just run it and it runs

OT: I like the one you used for your server :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, after above work I never touched PS anymore until today.
Dunno how long I’ll last this time but as long as I do I’m back posting some work.

First thing that worked out enough to not hurt people’s eyes was this color splash.
I know it’s very easy to do, but the result can be awesome as well.
Color splash is an amazing art imo.
So yeah here’s my first attempts on it.

I’m aware of the orange, it’s the sun on her shoulder and I don’t really know how to balance it out without fucking up.

It’s a nice effect, but the flame on the lighter does seem a little pixelated to me.
Good job nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback.

Here’s a few version for a friends youtube channel.
I’m not really happy with it, but wasn’t able to pull out much more.
And he’s happy with it since he has to do it with paint skills so yeah lol.

And some more color playing.

Try playing with some sun / flare effects, they typically look nicer when touching up dark images, by falsifying light.

Follow some tutorials bud, nice job.

worthless comment.

Just keep trying things in photoshop and try to learn it by yourself.
that’s way better as tutorials, if you need any help just pm me :stuck_out_tongue:

How is that a worthless comment? If you actually follow and read the tutorial and look what happens after everything you do you can learn so much faster.
You guys are all saying ‘dont need to use tutorials’ because you can do it all yourself, TUTORIALS TEACH YOU.

Anyways, onto the pieces.
Now, I’m sorry if I offend you by my overall cnc, but I’m just being honest.

A piece consists of many things. Composition, atmosphere, lighting, colours, execution, flow, focal, and so much more.
With your work (taking into account the face that you’re just a beginner) is lacking in almost all of these. What reading up on a few tutorials (actually reading, no just following the steps) would have taught you is how to balance your colours. It’s very very important for the aesthetic appeal of your piece. Have a look at:
http://www.moparisthebest.com/smf/index.php/topic,596246.0.html

It’s a tutorial on a simple, yet nice piece. It teaches you all the basic, from lighting to colour balancing.
Also, your contrast in a lot of these really hurts my eyes, as I feel you’ve tinkered with lighting, but not the contrast/colouring.

I could go on, but I’ll leave it there. Your work so far isn’t good, but then it’s not bad either. Just keep up the work, and read up!
