Raspberry Pi

So would lots of people but its designed to be low cost…

if you like the raspberry pi but are disappointed in it’s “lack” of power/features then look at the dozens of other similar size devices, i.e., cubox, trim-slice etc

(the 2 I mentioned don’t have usb 3.0 but they both have a 1gb ethernet port)

any of these items with dual ethernet ports?

EDIT: okay found this but seriously only a 200 MHz processor and they want near $200

you could always consider getting a micro board/case with whatever you need for about the same price

not sure what you’d need 2 ethernet ports for but the cubox has a gigabit ethernet and an esata connector, I’m sure there has to be a way to use esata as an ethernet port

How can people whine about a 35$ device that can do this: http://www.raspbmc.com/

I am trying to find a low cost computer to use as a router because all the routers I can find are just shit anymore

The device is great for what it is but is not for everything

Consumer grade routers are a bit shitty, if you can afford it just get a business router.

There are hundreds of options you could use around the net for an embedded/small router platform. Make a new thread if you want something more dedicated to that :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, wrt usb3 not even the current gen intel chipsets have it onboard so it’s not going to be around for a while yet on a SoC solution like this.

I haven’t kept up with router technology myself as the best internet I can get currently is 50mbit (and my wrt54gl can handle that), but the asus black diamond, albeit a little pricey, is said to be a decent performer over wireless and lan

Might be getting one from work to play around with, but I don’t know for sure.

According to an email from Farnell I’ll be getting mine in mid May… yay…

Just ordered mine from element 14/Farnell, I’m expecting an email from them in a couple days with an approximate delivery date, can’t expect it to arrive any time soon though :frowning:

Ooh, I’ve been looking for one to run my web server and media server on, couldn’t find a place to buy, I’ve found this page: http://downloads.element14.com/raspberryPi1.html
But no order link? The only order link there is for the accessories…

Ah I see, I’d already done that a week ago, cheers.

You can buy it from the links like I posted earlier.

When I got home from work today my Raspberry Pi was waiting for me. It’s even smaller than I imagined, at it looks awesome. I haven’t even got to plug it in yet, I’ll keep you guys updated, but probably won’t be able to do much until tomorrow night at least.

Anyone else get their’s yet?

Nice double post…

Still waiting in the queue :frowning:
