AKS-74u [WIP] (1st time in Maya)

Doing the stock later.

Is it just me, or does the barrel curve down a bit?

As you may have found out, maya is much easier to work with than any other programs.

Any program is easier to work with than another when you’re used to it.

Good progress Java.
As you may have found out, maya is much easier to work with than any other programs.
Really to be honest I switched to maya for the the features, and so i could get a head start for college, as they will use maya + renderman.
I will give the speed modeling award to blender. Organic modeling is way easier in maya, and the outcome of the model is better with the sacrifice of time and efficiency. But really I think i’ll learn to make things go faster later.

Are you kidding me? That’s because you don’t know how to use it.

I can do anything in Maya 32u5023fn322 times faster than in Blender, because I’m used to it. And if I can’t, then MEL and python will help me.

The reason why Maya is slower to me is because of all the awesome tools that clutter up the User Interface. But then again it’s better to spend more time and get a better model than less time and get a shit model.

Make a custom marking menu with your most used tools. Assign it to ~. Get rid of shelf, toolbox status line, and range/time sliders (if not animating that scene). Assign all menus to the hotbox screen. Only have attribute editor/channel box open when you need to. Much more screen real estate and much faster. Need a tool? Hold ~ and click for a menu of your tools. Need to move something? You should already be using QWER. Need another menu? Hold space. Then assign hotkeys to all of the windows you frequently open.

k thanks

well in maya all you need is your mouse, you can access all the option through it, well and space bar i guess, also the custom shelf does come in handy

You can do NOTHING in Maya with only your mouse… In fact, I can do more without my mouse than with.

Looks good. i saw this on moparscape, and you’ve got some good flow goin on there haha

offtopic:
yeah. hotkeys are like god in plastic form xD
no but seriously, thats why i HATE meta with all my heart because i have to click select everything.

but its the exact thing thats keeping me :stuck_out_tongue:
i can whip anything up in blender, because i know the hotkeys, but in 3ds im a kid on his first day of school xD

but anyways, i have 3dsmax and planning for maya, but how is mayas hardsurfacing?

More like why aren’t you using it.

Ok, so I finally got to texturing this:

Racer445 deleted all his tutorials so I couldn’t get the texturing part, and I tackled at it alone, what do you think?
