(an unorganized stream-of-consciousness) on this site

the scene is axually pretty much dead as of now, minus little cliques following rsbot-spinoffs, and i think it opens up a perfect opportunity to seize control and try and centralize runescape cheating at moparisthebest.

the only problem is that we need something unique to stimulate the cheating community at large to take action and reinvigorate the forums. projects created by the “elite” member groups (CMs, CCs, Vets) would probably do best, while allowing the public to subscribe to occassional releases etc. this makes sense as it really is the “elite”'s duty to progress and keep moparisthebest as an integral part of the scene, just as it is the people’s duty to keep a nation powerful. now to the objective of this thread; this should act as a sort of initiative to start using the boards as a breeding ground for brainstorming ideas for practical projects that we can reasonably do in a few months maximum to reinforce the site’s standing in the cheating scene. no special formats for these ideas, just they should keep it civil and rational, and therefore follow any other rules on posts. i think a few projects we could work on could be a reliable deobfuscator or decompiler, jagex-format codecs, etc – generally the kind of tools moparisthebest is willing to fund.

i think the main problem with the current attempt to stimulate the cheating scene is that it almost directly targets moparscape and private servers, which aren’t “causes” that most people feel comfortable to be working for. it has a good motive, money, but because of viral anti-social segregationist and elitist thought, most find it demeaning to work for moparscape. i think one of the main reasons for this rift is the fact that the communities are separated fundamentally at their core; it is for this reason i think that moparscape and moparisthebest should be once-again reunited under a common umbrella.

this reorganization should also encompass a more logical structuring of the forums. as they should be, suggestions on how to reformat this forum should also be encouraged.

thoughts on the plan? ideas to incorporate? post them here.

Lol, you care

I predict thread and idea dying 5 minutes later

Jagex would have my head for my involvement :frowning: I can however contribute with ideas if i get any!

fuck that shit

and let it be discovered that nobody here knows anything? no thanks

Adding more people to this community would weaken it. What’s the true benefit in this idea? Money?
and let it be discovered that nobody here knows anything? no thanks
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

reviving the rs cheating scene by recentralizing it at this site

Given that anyone plays the shit anymore. I don’t know, did they even open trading the wildy yet?

It would be bad at first, yes, but people would fall into place, some would grow out of it and turn to more “elite” forms of progression.

I have no place to talk really because I really don’t care.

the only reason you’d think it’s bad is because of a false sense of superiority which is exactly what we are trying to remove

Bad in the sense that there would be retarded posts everywhere until people figure out what they want to deal with. Like in the technical boards.

more directed at unhandled. i agree with you though frell which is why i push for a reorganization which is more simple so that distinctions between board purposes is made easier.

I have used the sponsored server money to purchase a server for MoparScape.org, which will be released in the next few days after I finish putting some final touches on MoparScape. Afterwards, I’d like to finish Cherokee into a full-fledged runescape bot, to do this, I need an updater, and I don’t particularly want to write one myself, so I’m asking here if anyone would be willing to write one for the community? I could pay you out of the sponsored server money to do this. It needs to output mappings to a text file (instead of modifying bytecode, this allows us to distribute a legal text file, as opposed to copyrighted code) , preferably similar to the format already supported by Cherokee. This updater needs enough fields to enable calculating the positions of world tiles, interfaces, and objects, npcs, and items in the world, possibly injecting callbacks to events in the future. Would anyone be willing to do this? I’m thinking the updater itself should be GPL’d (or similar) and publicly available, with example trivial transforms/patterns, with the complicated ones kept a secret so Jagex can’t intentionally break them.

Here is what I am thinking bot-wise:

Right away:

[ol][li]Move to Github[/li]
[li]The input package is mature and still works well, I don’t think we have to do anything/much of anything to it.[/li]
[li]I plan to restructure it quite a bit, roll some of the applet-loading and bytecode-editing code into the main Cherokee and out of the rs package.[/li]
[li]Incorporate some changes into the AppletStub applet-loading part, including sending the correct User-Agent, and rolling in the SecurityManager I wrote for MoparScape 4 with the permissions it expects for an unsigned client (option for signed/unsigned I guess)[/li]
[li]Write the AccessorMethods class specific for RS2, to provide helper methods to the scripts, so it can start being used right away for runescape as a full-fledged, undetectable bot.[/li][/ol]

At this point the bot would work (with the same level of ease as Aryan, just not detectable), and we can continue to improve it from a ‘good’ bot into an excellent bot.

[ol][li]It already supports aryan-style scripting, but it should be easy to abstract it a little more to support different types, such as event based scripting, and even scripting with other languages (python, ruby (for Mopman), javascript, lua, basically whatever)[/li]
[li]Support for getting access to applets in different ways, such as with a java agent, and maybe even attaching to the VM after it is already running, if feasible.[/li]
[li]World Walker.[/li]
[li]Remote control/headless support.[/li]
[li]Plugin for Simba to use functionality provided by Cherokee. (modification of SMART)[/li]
[li]Proxy support.[/li]
[li]And of course anything else that you can imagine.[/li][/ol]

That was kind of “an unorganized stream-of-consciousness” post as well, but I figured I’d let you guys know my plans, and get input as to whether or not anyone here would be interested in writing the updater and/or contributing to the bot itself.

What stops Jagex?

Why would it? It only took legal action against Powerbot over such a petty reason; it having “RS” in the domain name. :expressionless:

The good news for this site is that we don’t infringe on their trademarks or faux trademarks (such as the ‘RS’ abbreviation), and Cherokee isn’t named in any way that infringes on trademarks.

I like super_'s suggestion. Frank_'s reply was predictable, as per usual.

There really needs to be a shift in attitude here too. There are people here who overdesign software (cough frank_ cough), put others down because there’s something ‘ugly’ about their software, and interestingly enough never ever finish their own software. :stuck_out_tongue:

The emphasis shouldn’t be on unequivocal and unrivaled understanding of how the client operates. It should be on getting the job done in a reasonable way. Perhaps not the best way, but reasonable.
