But I feel something about the text isn’t right.

Due to you theme of blocks, I’d try to make the text fit the theme. After you do that I’d make the text a solid color (probably a lighter red) and add a nice stroke. A soft red outer glow may look nice, but then again may not. If the glow doesn’t look right, try a soft drop shadow. Since you are a beginner, my advice is just to play around in the program you use.
