Been using Ubuntu for a while and thinking about using something a little more “efficient”. I was thinking about Arch or Debian. What are your thoughts?
EDIT: I might just keep using Ubuntu though I don’t really care. I can still get things done

Ubuntu is going to be just as efficient as anything else pretty much. If more things are running than you want, you can always stop them. I’ve used Ubuntu (Kubuntu to be specific) and I’ve also used Debian and Arch for a few months at a time as well. I always go back to Kubuntu though, no reason not to really. (and debian package management is the best!)
I use debian stable for the IRC server though.
Alright then I’ll just keep using Ubuntu. Thanks for your input.
I have to ask though, why do you use KDE?
EDIT: Debian package managing is the best
I just like KDE and all the apps that come with it much better than Gnome or Xfce. Especially Kate, I really love Kate.
I still don’t know if I like the new KDE 4 better than the old 3.5, but I guess the only constant is change.
ARCH LINUX

Arch… or crunchbang if you prefer debian package management.
I cannot fault either.

I’ve never had the chance to use it yet.

I used crunchbang for a while on my laptop. Though I loved it for a while, I got a little sick of it after about a year.
It’s fast, and not just in terms of speed but ease of use. By default it has multiple screens set up like Mac’s Spaces and after I customized my right click menu I could do just about anything in less than a second with or without my mouse.
If you want a powerful distribution, go with Gentoo. I use it on everything but my production server; and that’s only because the hosting provider doesn’t provide Gentoo by default.
Gentoo has by far the best package management, both dependency wise and customisation wise.
Otherwise, Debian/Ubuntu is fine. I can’t really comment on Arch Linux as it doesn’t offer anything I’d like. If I want customisation, I use Gentoo. If I want quick package management and a stable environment, I use Debian/Ubuntu. For bleeding edge there’s Debian/testing, Ubuntu PPA’s and Gentoo Overlays.

Windows 7 is a great operating system, and probably one of the best things Microsoft has ever made… It far surpasses what Windows XP ever was.

I’ve used both, Windows XP more obviously, but I don’t see anything in Windows 7 that is better than Windows XP besides support for newer hardware, which of course could have been integrated in XP as well. Can you tell me why you think it surpasses XP?
