Graphics cards

basically it allows you to use higher res textures and/or more textures at a time

as johan said, it will be extremely future-proof

EEEEEDIT: I should note, if you use multiple monitors you’ll need a higher video ram, and there’s a bug with nvidia where resolutions of different size will severely affect performance to the point where it’s noticeable
And does that only help with textures?
No, it also helps with resolutions, which means if you ever get a super high resolution IPS display, you’ll be able to watch your shit in super high resolution (aka 2560x1440)

Alright awesome

In the mean time im thinking of overclocking my 6570 to last me until christmas day for my gtx 560, how much of a performance boost can I expect and will it overheat/break before the 25th?

if you’re overclocking you probably won’t notice a huge difference at all, I can just about play bf3 on ultra in 1920x1080 with my 570 at around 30fps(you’ll get this with a 560 ti overclocked), but if I overclock it a little I can get up to 40+fps and it’s ever so slightly on intensive scenes

the strange thing about bf3 though is it’s more laggy riding a jeep bumping about than it is say in a huge firefight with tanks and helis, it’s very odd

Which is pretty much recommended if you want to play Skyrim with some nice texture mods.

Just got the card, doing great, dominates crysis and bf3 on ultra no problem

But I was monitoring temps, it seems to idle at 37 but it can peak at 80-82 while im playing a game, is this ok? It seems really hot :S

seems im only hitting 80 in bf3, all other games are between 65-75

BF3 causes more intense stress than almost all of the other games out there. I can definitely hear my fans working when I run it, GPU is at about 70c.

Turns out I had the 2nd port on the back of my comp blocking the vent from the card, fixed it now hopefully ill get better temps

yup, after removing that plate I now get max 77c in bf3 instead of 80-82

mid 80c temps for a gfx card is fine, nothing to worry about

dunno bout you guys but my gpu never goes above 60C…

mine doesn’t either but gfx cards and cpus are entirely different beasts, as long as it doesn’t crash under load and the temps aren’t ridiculous it’ll be fine

my case isnt exactly the most ventilated though, and I cant get a new case because this is a stock hp case that came with the computer, I just switched out gpu and psu

I almost bought a 6570 but i went with the 6670 instead, much better quality and preformance. also i bought it uber cheap from here http://www.portatech.com/catalog/viewitem.asp?id=65543&r=p i’m running saints row 3 on hd as well as skyrim and mw3

Ok I hooked up my dual monitor to it and it seems to run the clock speeds faster from what i’ve heard. Idling with 2 monitors is 50c, but idling with one is 36c
