Graphics cards

Heres overall system specs:

i7 quad 2.8ghz

8GB RAM

Radeon 6570

I can run crysis on high at about 25-27 fps, which isn’t too important to me. I tend to like the idea of maxing games out, but if that means dishing out $100+ every time a new game comes out that pushes hardware limits then im not too interested.

Im comfortable with playing games maxed or lowing some stuff like ambient occlusion or AA, but texture quality is a no no for me.

So should I

A. Get another 6570 (a 80-100$ card) and run them crossfire

B. Get a single new GTX 560 and an $80 new PSU provided it will last longer when it comes to games

(I’ve already talked with Spel, sent pics of case etc, both options will fit)

Most people wouldn’t recommend crossfire because some games can have issues with it, but id like some more input.

  1. This is 2011 not 1994, you will not have problems with cf/sli, HOWEVER:
  2. You will not be able to crossfire a 6570 unless you have a motherboard which has a built in ati video card.
  3. Not to mention it’s a horribly old and budget card.
  4. If you can’t afford to buy an ati 6970, go for the nvidia 560.
  5. Make sure your PSU has the appropriate PCI-e power as well.

If I get a 560 id have to get a new power supply, I was already told this.

Im not sure if my motherboard has a built in ati card? It came with an AMD Radeon 6570, so… possibly? not sure.

what’s your budget and do you have a dual monitor setup?

a 2gb 560-ti will blow dual 6570s out the water and will have enough memory to max textures out on any game for a long time

cheapest 2gb 560-ti on newegg is $270 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141276083

edit: oh, an overclocked 560-ti will compete with a stock 570, I know overclocking isn’t an option for most people but a 570 is probably the 3rd best single card on the market right now

I do have dual monitors but I only play in the right monitor

I was expecting around $350 total

$50 with rebate - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371044

$330 total and it will last you years at max settings and even longer provided you reduce some of the smaller settings a little

(psst Niall, you can’t cf two 6590s cuz they don’t have a cf port - can only cf with only with an onboard video card if you have one)

Bottom line - with a 350 budget, buy any 560 you can find and a new psu, pretty much your best bet.

Oh heres a picture of the inside of my computer, showed this to spel and he said a 560 should fit, and he told me PSU’s are universal size and simple to change

Wait should I get the ti?

heres list, id probably get it locally, I wouldn’t mind spending a few more $ instead of waiting (psu I need is $80 at BB also)

heres my current card:

I did not understand one word in this topic…

the 560 ti is a little better for not much more, it’s up to you but I’d personally fork out a little more and get the 560 ti in a 2gb edition, preferably a brand that offers dual fans(e.g., the msi one I posted)

could you help me find a best buy version of that card and ill see if its in stores? If not ill order on newegg. But id rather be able to return it worst case scenario and just have easy access to it.

What PSU do you have currently?

not sure but it cant power a 560

AMD cards don’t really scale that well with Crossfire.

If you do end up getting a 560 don’t get the MSI Twin Frozr, it doesn’t have any heatsinks on the power regulators.

AMD cards are fine with crossfire, they’ve improved it loads. Since shortly before they started releasing crossfire profiles, they were matching (or getting close to) NVIDIAs SLI performance.

It isn’t as consistent across the board as SLI is, but it is much improved over what it used to be, notoriously far behind.

Bumping this because christmas is getting close, heres one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/EVGA+-+GeForce+GTX+560+2GB+GDDR5+PCI+Express+2.0+Graphics+Card/3628108.p?id=1218421870828&skuId=3628108&st=gtx&cp=1&lp=7

Whats better, 2GB 560 TI or just a normal 560?

On a comical note, pick one of these up to increase your epeen by several metres:

Two ATI 5770’s in Crossfire will do you good.

2gb 560 is better with a but, and that but is it’s not really better it just has more video ram

And does that only help with textures?
