Ipad 2 vs samsung Galaxy 10.1

It wins in battery life, which is a no brainer. The Nexus is supposedly the worst battery life of an android phone so far, even worse than the Thunderbolt! I haven’t heard anything about the SGS2, but TouchWiz probably ruins battery life on those too :stuck_out_tongue:

Those were also benchmarks for phones, not tablets like the OP was asking

Well yeah, but if you follow the conversation, you’ll see those benchmarks weren’t aimed at the OP.

But it doesn’t really win in real-world battery life, because with the androids you can actually carry extra batteries with you, and replace them when they get old and worn-out. The iPhone doesn’t give you either option.

@performance, I’d like to know how they came up with those benchmarks. The systems are so different it would be hard to fairly compare the performance of two entirely different programs.

You can carry around charge packs though.

They’re not different programs. They’re the same benchmarks each time, made by the same people, just for different platforms. You can download them yourself.

You still have this strange view that the iPhone is massively underpowered compared to the competition, yet last time you said that, I shown you all the specifications of all the top end competing phones to prove you wrong. Now I’m giving you benchmarks…

There are Android phones with better specifications out there, specifically the CPU mainly, but the GPU is something they typically lead on and even when they don’t - the results show they’re getting better performance out of them.

God damn daily mail, put Apple and iPad in the headline but not the manufacturer of the protective case responsible for it surviving. Shit like this…

Also, I guess people don’t realize that there is no difference between probably 1000 feet (would have to be calculated) and 100,000 feet. Once it reaches terminal velocity, it isn’t going to go any faster no matter how high it is dropped from.

The only thing I can think of height-wise that might actually affect it would be burning up in the atmosphere heh

Can’t I get a simple answer?
Ipad 2 for ipad 2 : reason
Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tab: reason

Thanks!

Ok.
ipad2: No because apple and iOS is entirely closed and sucks.
galaxy: Yes because android is open and awesome, with virtually no limitations.

iPad 2 because its faster than any android tablet currently available and it has all that you are ever going to need.

The terminal velocity would be faster in the upper atmosphere due to there being less air resistance, however the acceleration will be lesser because the effect of gravity is less up there.

Honestly you’re so closed minded it hurts. You can’t objectively say iOS sucks because that’s bollocks and you know it. Subjectivity is a big part of this and you’ve completely disregarded that. Along with the fact android isn’t perfect and neither is iOS both have positives in some areas and weaknesses in others, don’t be a knob about it.
@questiom
iOS is a great ecosystem it’s simple to use and everything is nice and neatly laid out for you read to jump in. Yes it’s closed off and a lot of great things don’t make it into the AppStore because apple don’t let them. But of course jailbreaking is always an option. You also have t bear in mind iOS is optimised immensely wel for iPad.
Now for android, personally, and I’m going to lay it out now, I’m an iOS man I much prefer that amazing synchronisation between software and hardware. However I’m going to be trading in my iPhone for an Android, why? Because of the reasons mitb mentioned, it’s more open, I can enjoy a freedom with my OS much like I do with my computer which to me is something I’ve come to appreciate more. However android isn’t as well optimised for the devices it’s running on, a lot more performance could be squeezed out of those devices if the OS was initially designed with that device in mind but it’s it unfortunately. However I like the fact that you can side load apps and change themes without any issues and the integration with google products is obviously a bonus, it just depends on what you want really. If you’re a casual user I’d say hit up the iPad 2 and you won’t regret it. If you want to be programming your stuff and fiddling with bits and bobs get a galaxy tab

Android was the worst experience ever for me until I switched over to a miui rom for my droid x. Now the thing runs as fast or faster than an iphone or at least it feels like it.

I gave all my winded, long, and fair explanations up above, and he apparently disregarded them and said he wanted a ‘simple answer’, so I gave it to him, obviously my opinion.

I say neither tablet. I a a samsung person but right now the best bang for your buck tablet-wise will be the asus transformer prime http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Transformer+Prime+TF201+Tablet+with+32GB+Memory+-+Gray/4038674.p?id=1218450204286&skuId=4038674

benchmark: http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/01/first-nvidia-tegra-3-benchmarks-score-the-quad-core-chip-just-slightly-faster-than-apples-a5/

like others have said it comes down to preference and what the intend purpose the tablet is going to be used for.
If ypu want to customize and stuff choose an android OS.
if you want simplicity and the hardware and software to be matched for each other than the iOS.
