Which one is the better tablet?
android 3.0 OS vs IOS5?
my friend is getting one of those, which one is a better alternative tablet?
Ipad 2 vs samsung Galaxy 10.1
While i’d stay away from outright saying which is better in regards to smartphones, rather state my preference. I have little problem in saying the iPad 2 is a better tablet than any Android tablet out at the moment. Purely because of the app selection, it is MILES beyond that of tablet specific apps on Android.
And I would say that Android is a much better platform than iOS, giving you many choices you don’t have with Apple. The biggest of which would be installing applications from other sources than the market. In addition, you can change the operating system as you choose as well as do things that no one can on iOS, like tethering, using Flash (for now), and dozens of other things.
The bottom line is it probably comes down to personal preference.
If you don’t want a nasa tablet and would like an easy to navigate simplistic tablet get an ipad

You can tether on iOS…
Besides, if you’re getting into rooting your phone, you can do a lot of things on iOS too if you jailbreak it. Such as install applications from other sources and if you’d want to (can’t imagine why) give a the attempts of flash ports a go.

Sorry, flashing a new OS onto the device then. It’s more steps than is required for a jailbreak, is all i’m saying.

I took changing the OS as that. But even then, the usually 1 - 2 step process of jailbreaking to get whatever silly changes you want is still there.

Yeah re-reading it, what you said is more likely what he means.
Actually tL was right, I did mean flashing a new ROM onto it. With iOS, you don’t have that option since it can’t be modified (no source code). With Android, many different groups write excellent roms you can flash onto your phone with numerous features you can’t get anywhere else.

I’ve been running Cyanogenmod on my Droid 1 since version 5 or something, and they fix far more bugs then they create. In fact I haven’t been able to upgrade my hardware because I have come to need many features that can only be found in custom roms.

It’s a fucking pain in the ass
I mean, that’s fair enough. But I prefer an OS that wasn’t infested with horrible skins and is updated on the first day across all iOS devices from the past 3 years. An OS that doesn’t push me to want to flash a new OS on to the device
After all, you buy an iOS device for iOS.
Exactly. You certainly wouldn’t buy it for the hardware or the price, because there is always a higher-spec android at the same or a cheaper price.
I thought we went through this before? Galaxy Nexus unlocked costs more than the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S outperforms it in a fair few benchmarks… The Galaxy Nexus is the flagship Android phone…
And to be fair, the Samsung Galaxy S II does better in some benchmarks:
What is it, Android or the hardware?
