Just two pieces

Well, in order to get this section a bit of content, I guess I’ll post two perfume bottles that I had to model for my exams this year. They were both modeled with a program named Solidworks. I’m not exactly a renowned modelist, so don’t expect masterpieces, but here you go (They’re large images, so make take time to load):

edit: The top one is based off a real perfume bottle, but the second is a concept design.

(This one below isn’t rendered, just a side view + exploded view of the inside parts.)

I could post more images of different angles, but I the program I used to create these models aren’t on my home computer.

Nice job they look very good!

Nice job I like the snowflakes :3

I dislike the “pommel” (I guess you would call it) on the second one. I think you may have issues with your topology which is causing me to dislike it… Looks like you took 4 cylinders and smashed them together without making the polygons actually flow. The edges look really cool, besides the fact you should of subdivided them so you don’t get that choppy look.

As far as the first one, I am confused. I can’t really picture it off of that angle. :stuck_out_tongue: Is the thing in the middle inside of the bottle or on the outside? Just having trouble picturing it haha, although it is my favorite of the two. Can you post wireframes? Wonderful work regardless. Just out of curiosity, what exam was it for?

The Pommel as you call it was just luck that I even created it, heh. I was messing around trying to create a suitable lid and somehow managed to create that and then thought that it kind of went with the bottle. So basically you’re right, it’s kind of a clusterfuck.

I can get another side render of the bottle (if I have it) for you now. The part you’re confused about protrudes outside the bottle and, with closer inspection, there are several little ridges or indents on that shape to give it a rough’ish look. I’ll see about wireframes, I’m not exactly sure if Solidworks shows it in that view or not, never looked into it. :stuck_out_tongue: This was for the Design and Communication graphics examination, and it was our official ‘project’ so to speak.

I just did some googling on solidworks and I don’t think you will be able to get a wireframe. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s a CAD modeling software, so they usually aren’t interested in topology and such for animation. Usually its for like prototyping and such for when you need dimensions and crap. Nice job then! No idea how you got that pommel to work like that, as we use a CAD program called Inventor in my engineering class and I would hate to even imagine how you constrained that or whatnot. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I hope you have that side view. I didn’t like the curly thing at the top of the first bottle, but I thought it was because of the render. I think if you slightly beveled the edges it might of looked better since the other part of the lid is really round.

I found a side view, but it also shows all the internal workings of the bottle as well, I guess I should of posted this picture originally also. Here you go: (It’s not rendered by the way)

whatever you do, dont let your gf see those :o

We’d want to listen to you on girl advice.

The cap is a bit sloppy on the second one. But still very nice.

EDIT: Guess I should’ve read the comments… :o

:o nice

Nice work!
