This is similar to what it would look like as if I left it plain and simple, now personally I like a little details rather than plain. But some people have their own choices and opinion on things, thank you for your feedback once again.

I don’t think you should remove the blending options entirely but you should try and make them more suited to the piece rather than just lowering the opacity.

You are right, there are multiple things I could’ve done instead, I just found the piece was bold enough on its own to take attention to it and not the text. Yes, you are correct with what you’re suggesting though.

What is your source material? It is hard to judge your work without knowing your starting point.

I use GIMP as of the moment, Deviantart for my brushes, dafonts for my fonts, and planetrenders for the renders.
I know PS would be the way to go, but I’m new so I decided to start simple.

GIMP is just as good as Photoshop
