Medieval English longbowmen [Max, ZBrush]

Redoing the tabard entirely tomorrow. Im not happy with the folds at all.

The coif is chainmail which will be added with textures so I wont be adding many folds

To do:
where the pecs connect to the shoulder is a bit too far out, noted, but no need to fix for this because it isn’t visible
Fix the god awful lip on the top of the coif along the helmet
Trying to decide if I want to do short sleeve chainmail
Quilted texture on aketon under the tabard
Hand axe or sword (probably sword)
Pouch
Bow
Quiver (cant decide if I want it on the side or back yet)
Second half of shoe with laces, based on real medieval shoes
Buckles on all the straps

Yes I know long bows are longer than the one I drew

Their long bows are longer than the one you drew, are you going to fix that?

Not sure what you’re talking about…

Looks good Frell, medieval times have always interested me.

Same here.

This all looks great. Good job

I think this is wonderful, awesome as usual mate!

you’re amazingly talented frell.

An archer with a sword? What is this, Runescape?

Anyways, great job so far. Only thing I can point out is how flat the right sleeve and shorty-shorts are. Just make them look natural like you did with the other garments, with folds and such. Aside from that it is excellent.

Fingernails are always a nice touch too.

rip4d, its not done lol :stuck_out_tongue: And yes archers carried small swords or hand axes along with their bows.

Much sexier :stuck_out_tongue: The eyes scare me though :expressionless:

Archers carried short swords, or daggers. Not a regular sword.

Their long bows are longer than the one you have modeled (cant even see it over his back), are you going to fix that?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the long bows longer that that? It kind of throws off the whole model, to be honest. You should probably fix it.

I have to agree. In the reference image, the bow goes from right above his knee, to about 1/3 his height above his head.

Yea, throws off the whole realism aspect.

4/10

His bow doesn’t even have a d-loop knot in the sketch
