Rulereric files lawsuit against jagex!

On the other hand, they might have done an analysis on the current case (which was going nowhere, really) and decided to potentially throw it to the wind to reinforce their hard, arrogant new stance against botting.

Honestly, I can’t believe they admitted to 60% of their active player count were bots, 60 PERCENT! Also, banning like 8 million accounts!

Was that in the video? At first I didn’t believe it and thought he made a mistake. But thor almighty! SIXTY PERCENT. That is quite a substantial amount.

that’s probably cut a hefty lump off of jagex’s profits too, since a good portion of those bots would have been active member accounts

i believe the figure he gave in the video was that 90% of the banned accounts were free

Unless I’m missing something, isn’t this simply an accusation linking Jagex’s knowledge of ibot users to the paypal subpoena? Couldn’t Jagex have gathered the ibot users from a different means, and the snellmans are simply assuming they used information which they had no legal access to? Is there actual evidence Jagex used that private information, or is this just all bullshit?

threatening email was only sent to those that used the same email address for the runescape account as the paypal payment. possible by highly unlikely

Meanwhile… At RuneFest

oh look its the 40% runescape players i heard jacomb is at runefrest

Confirmed:

<Fat_Cookies> i guess Jacmob is afk/not going to respond, amirite?
<neley> yeah
<neley> sent him a message like 30 mins ago
<Jacmob> no
<neley> omfg!!!
<Jacmob> ?
<neley> he talks, lol
<Fat_Cookies> did you go to runefest?
<Fat_Cookies> just out of curiosity
<Jacmob> yes

I also think we should do a couple of edits to this page:

Nice, I figured they got the email addresses for ibot purchasers one way or the other, can’t believe they did an end-run around the court they are currently working with though, that’s ridiculous and has to make Jagex look bad to the judge in the case.

edit:
After reading that filing, I think there is a good chance jagex’s case will be flat out dismissed against impsoft, because it is obvious they knew what they were doing and went against the courts ruling, and they cited plenty of existing case law where plaintiffs did the same, and had their case dismissed for bad conduct before. It looks like ruler really has jagex over a barrel on this one.

I’d love to see an apology on runescape’s website too, but I don’t see that happening.

I read possible outcome is jagex emailing all players previously emailed retracting their statement. Wow first this and now rsbuddy seems to be running again, what will jagex fuck up next.[/quote]
proof for rsbuddy please

He said 60% of the entire player base were bots, and that 90% of the free player base were bots. That’s what I heard in the video.

But they could have used that email on the RS accounts they were botting with, or with the payments for membership if they had any. This isn’t exactly a smart crowd talking about.

Additionally, didn’t Jagex also send out emails to people whom use powerbot and rsbuddy as well?

The only email I’ve seen specifically references ibot

No, because that email specifically mentions ibot.

edit: beaten by mopman…

There were not any other specific emails sent out regarding other major bots? I just find it hard to believe Jagex would be desperate enough to risk something like this, when they have spent so much money, time, and resources on the court case and anti-botting procedures over the last year.

i guess they dont consider that theyve done anything wrong

again they threatened only Ibot users and only those that paid with paypal. too hard to be coincidence. However they could pass it off that the lawyers sent the email.

The e-mail is signed Mark Gerhard, though [CEO of Jagex]

this seems like a lot of bullshit to eliminate cheating in a kids game?

Ageing potion?
