Colt M1911

Learning blender so this is my first model (but ive been modeling for years). Been constantly redoing stuff that didn’t look like the real thing all while struggling with the change

This looks pretty nice, could I see your reference picture?

Lol ‘picture’

If I posted every reference picture I used it would be ~50. You need as many angles as you can get if you want it to look like the real thing. But im going for a ww2 style one, the modern ones are ugly

I’ve been modeling guns forever so im very self critical on my accuracy :P. But all my stuff was over on MITB like http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7670/scopeon.jpg http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2714/scopedun.jpg

But seriously, good job Frell - I like it. Could use some touching up, but I’m sure all that will be in due time after you get the hang of everything.

touching up as in finishing lol
touching up as in finishing lol
Oh, of course!

What did you use before Blender? (for the UMP45, etc)

Max

And before that C4D

I see. Good work, the Colt looks nice

Why would you go from max to blender? I mean I like blender an all but max is better o.o

Stuff I sell by distribution has to be made in blender and gimp

Can you tell us the reason for this?

Because my Maximum license plate fell of my car

I’m starting to learn Blender and I can’t make a fucking rounded cube. Damn you

looks nice

Heres some progress

Had to redo the entire slide because my topology was shit and my edge loops wouldn’t line up to allow me to properly create the ejection port and grips

quick c4d render so you can see it easier:

And more

Now to do the notches and screws

Your first model using blender? Excellent work.

You guys can check out the model and rotate it around here:
