My neighbor has one of these, pretty neat guns, just far more expensive than they are worth.
Anywho, it looks real to me, though I think a .45 ACP round is quite a bit wider than what you can see through that mag, they look more like 9mm or .40 S&W.
twas based off of:
That is pretty much what I’m referring to, in the actual picture you can see 11 shells through the window, in your model I counted about 14 or 15. It’s not a big deal, they could be made a little bigger though.

Great job so far, get some materials on!

Imo there’s something a little off with the gold on the ammo. Might be just me though, otherwise, awesome as always.
Very nice. Do you sell these models to people making games? (Im not looking to buy)
I dont sell them no.
Wow nicely done,looks pretty sweet.
The new bullet size looks great! Completely realistic now.
Lol it would be so pimpin cool if mitb had a css server with my modded guns in it

css already has a ump??
If you wanna go from the very basics I got a big tutorial over on MoparScape.
You’re in for a wild ride. I got a pm from goatee about this a couple of weeks ago also :P.
For a program you can choose C4D, 3DS Max, Maya, and Blender. Blender is free but don’t let that make you look away. C4D is good for getting introduced into 3d, but if you want to get into anything complex like this ump you’ll need to move to max or maya (i couldnt imagine making this in c4d). I personally use Max because its more common in the games industry, but Maya is good to although its more common in the movie industry.
Max and Maya both have 30 day trials (http://autodesk.com/) and as i said before blender is free. If your serious about this than your going to have to get through some pretty intense learning curves. I already knew how to model when i switched to max so it was only a matter of finding everything again. But if you’re starting from nothing you’ll have to work your way up the ladder.
For tutorials you can use:
http://www.3dtotal.com/ (top toolbar)
http://cg.tutsplus.com/ - amazing. They only have quality tutorials and the authors get paid $150 if their tutorial gets accepted. I got an email from them about 2 days ago saying they were reviewing my tutorial for submission (:D). Also check out their Basix tutorials.
And for help you could either do something boring like read the manual or post here. Me and STH are both experienced in Max along with SilentCJ(<3 a little, he can get around), Archer left but he used Maya.
Itll probably be hard at first to make anything because you wont really ‘get’ what shapes make up an object. Eventually anything you look at that you want to model you will automatically see what shapes you could start with etc. The entire creation process kinda jolts through your head.

mtq = metasequoia?
Yeah, but it gives a basic overview of tools, like, what scale means, although it’s pretty common sense. That’s where I started though, I should’ve moved onto Max earlier imo, but hey, got there now.
Stuck the sight on the gun for a quick preview
Finally finished the bitch
