iPad 3

Well I haven’t seen any other topics and the release date looks to be only a day away so who is going to be getting one of these?

If all the rumours are true, hi resolution display, improved camera, quad core processor, etc… I will be buying one asap. Its to bad ASUS wasnt smart enough to release their android transformer prime hd at the same time because I definitely would have choosen that over the apple counterpart but it looks like they are forcing my hand on this one.

Thoughts on the iPad 3?

If the rumours are true, and all the leaks are correct, then the 2048x1536 display will be great for everyone. Because when Apple gets something, everyone else has to, and it’ll push the industry into the whole resolution and pixel density race.

Which for someone who cares a lot about pixel density, is great! The iPad is still the only tablet I would buy because the app selection, the ecosystem is far better than that of Android tablets. The Android market for tablet specific applications just doesn’t compare.

Now, if Windows 8 was out now, I’d think twice about geting an iPad because I am quite a fan of Windows 8, but it isn’t.

Totally resolutionary

Great, so, it’s just called ‘the New iPad’…?

Graphics performance sounds great, if it really is 4 times as powerful as tegra 3.

I think they’re advertising it by calling it “The new iPad”. But the actual product will just be called “iPad”.

Which I am sort of glad, and hope they do with the iPhone too. Get rid of the numbers and letters after it.

Just preordered my new ipad 32gb. Totally avoided buying iphone and ipods (except for my old touch) and ipads and waited 4 months instead of getting the iPad 2 and I can say it was worth it and im pretty excited to get it.

I think people would just refer to them by the year then, like is done with Macs. They don’t change their name each year when they update them. They just refer to them by the year of release.

could still be a pain in the ass whilst searching

Now I think of it, neither do the Shuffle’s, Nano’s and the iTouch’s, guess it makes sense.

I’m kind of disappointed they didn’t go with a quad core processor, its the only thing that I was expecting that I’m not going to be getting, but I’m not waiting until next year for apple to do a complete upgrade and the new display beats the shit out of anything any other tablet maker has to offer.

Thug life went over this in a different thread

I wouldn’t say it was useless, but it isn’t as necessary for a lot of iOS’s function. Loads of the regular UI and general operation stuff is off-loaded onto the GPU on iOS, which is why Apple have generally always put in more powerful GPUs than normal. It also shows given that they kept the CPU at dual core but upgraded the GPU to quad core.

Just pre-orderd mine

I’ll just clarify this… The A5x Processor is a dual core processor with quad core graphics. Its not a quad core processor.

So it has 6 cores…

Its a hex core processor!

every time a new one comes out they make the old one obsolete, thats why apple works!

Uh, no they don’t? They still update their old models for a few years.
