Post your Build

Inspired by this post i thought i’d create this and post mine in it.

The build itself is around 7 months old, I’ve upgraded some things in it since then like added the SSD and upgraded the case.

[ul][li]Core i7 920 @ 3.4 Ghz[/li]
[li]Two XFX ATI 5850s[/li]
[li]Corsair 800D case[/li]
[li]Corsair H50 CPU Cooler[/li]
[li]Corsair HX850W PSU[/li]
[li]Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600Mhz Tri Channel 6GB[/li]
[li]Intel X-M25 80GB SSD (& Samsung F3 1TB, WD 500GB)[/li]
[li]Gigabyte-EX58-UD5[/li][/ul]

4 hot-swappable drive bays, 3 more inside

Now, post yours!

Dude that build is legit, I always wanted to buy that case but usually never wanted to spend that much on a case (even though that case is my current favorite out of every single case every made).

My build is about 4 months old. Antec 900 is a nice case, but cable management is a joke and I had a hard time getting that 5850 in there.

[ul][li]Core i7 860 @ 2.8 Ghz[/li]
[li]HIS ATI 5850[/li]
[li]Antec 900 case[/li]
[li]OCZ 700W PSU[/li]
[li]OCZ Gold DDR3 1600Mhz Dual Channel (4x2GB)[/li]
[li]WD 1TB[/li]
[li]MSI P55-GD80[/li][/ul]

You should dremel some wholes in that and then put some uchannel trimming around the inside of the hole then run your cables through that so they are behind the motherboard tray. Furtherthat go grab some rustoleum outdoor black spraypaint and spray the inside black…BOOM…awesome case got more awesome.

very nice holic and thug-life, ill post pics once i get my new case, gpu and psu

Built this PC around the same time Thug-Life did, and well, we both didn’t know each others hardware, yet we’ve got nearly the same rig :stuck_out_tongue:

[]Core i7 920 @ 3.3 Ghz
[
]Stock Intel CPU Cooler
[]Two Sapphire ATI 5850s
[
]Coolermaster Centurion 900
[]Corsair HX750W PSU
[
]Geil DDR3 1333Mhz Tri Channel 6GB
[]Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
[
]2x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB
[*]Asus P6T Deluxe V2

And now my pics, but let me warn you: Very bad cable management incoming.

Some of the cables should be tucked behind the motherboard, but I guess they got loose somehow.

Thug, your cable management makes me cry.

Intel Q6600 stock(Corsair H50 cooler, never goes above 40c)
Nvidia 9800GTX
Corsair DDR2 800Mhz 2x2gb ram
abit IP35 motherboard
WD 500gb, Hitachi 2TB in this rig and a 640GB drive in a NAS sort of thing.
Corsair 620w PSU.

Thinking of upgrading to a 5870 and OCing my Q6600 to 3.2 to 3.6ghz, with a new mobo and some nice DDR3 ram. Thoughts?

I don’t know exactly when I built this, a few years ago, and it wasn’t even that special at the time.

[ul][li]Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0GHz[/li]
[li]EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB “Superclocked”[/li]
[li]abit IP35 Pro[/li]

[li]500GB WD Caviar Black SATA[/li]
[li]2x1GB DDR2-666 (Kingston/Micron)[/li]
[li]Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer[/li]
[li]RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX Mid Tower case + 530W PSU[/li][/ul]

Now that I look at all my components together, what the fuck was I doing?

Oh definitely, if I do decide to upgrade I’ll probably spraypaint it black and cut a few holes for cable management, get some new cables etc. Maybe a new case.

So I hurd mwiebelhaus will give me some tips for cable management.

Holy fuck Niall… why is it so dusty?

New picture with better lighting

Blame the Antec 900! Thing gets dustier by the hour.

Have you considered a GTS 250 or something? I installed one recently and am very impressed, within your budget too.
Ignore me if you have no intention of gaming or using CUDA.

$119.99 (with mail in rebate of $20)

I inastalled that exact one on another build and it works great. I got it at bestbuy also where it was $119 regular without rebate but that was a bit back and the sale has probably eneded + plus the fact you may not live in America. But yeah anyway the card is great, I can run games such as GTAIV which wants all the video ram on high settings just fine, and other games such as COD4 get rapped on this card (settings at 1680X1050 on high textures).

@mwiebelhaus

You should make a tutorial man, it would help a lot of people. Myself included. Go over a lot of the techniques and generics, and maybe an insight into what you find some of the best tactics of cable management are.
