As for what Greeny said, i doubt they are very stuck up, even if leets like ourselves show up. If anything, i’d imagine them finding it quite interesting to see us actually show up for such an event.

i think speljohan would be the best choice (if he wanted to, but he stated he didn’t), is there an actual reason why he would be legally bound to anything though? i don’t know about jagex listening, i think they might take it as an opportunity to vilify whoever shows up

You’re promoting breaking the rules, how can you think they wont have a problem with that speljohan? (not being an ass, serious question)

Read the news post by Jagex its a Q&A session on how Jagex are combating bots, my take on that is that it’s for reassurance of the legitimate players. (As those are the only types you’d expect to turn up to an event like this). Jagex telling them what they’ll be doing to stop all the bots.

Sure if you stepped to one side to discuss bots with some Jagex employees they’d probably be interested and chat to you.

The problem is we aren’t the target audience and if you’re in a large crowd and throw out some comment on botting they’ll comment and move on and probably shoot you down in the process. They have a 0 tolerance for botting so what makes you think they’d be different face to face :P?

I may have been a little off on them throwing you out but if you continually interrupted (let’s face it chances are this would be the only way to get heard amongst the midst of a metric-shit-ton of excited kids) then I doubt your presence is welcome.

However I’m not opposed to the idea, go and try and prove me wrong. If you managed to initiate a bot debate i’d be both interested to read a transcript and pleasantly surprised. On the mention of them interested to talk to us, if they were they’d have signed up here and initiated that conversation long long ago (which I’m aware they’ve done but all in a very small capacity).

BTW my opinion is not based off complete assumptions, I’ve had the opportunity to talk to Mod Mark G (the JMod mentioned to be attending) on both forums and IRC, he’s full of shit. Note; not related to runescape, Jagex aquired planetarion a text based strategy game I play. They’ve had numerous Q&A sessions on our IRC network and everything they’ve said has been a complete fabrication - they were only ever interested in our domain for one of their future games it would seem. However they avoid this question everytime it’s asked, pretending they have intentions to develop a dying game when clearly they do not.

Now they may be different with their main source of income but I wouldn’t hold your breath because it’s not us botters they have to please to keep the game afloat :wink: That said please somebody go because the hilarity of trolling such an event is something I can imagine to be quite fun. I just don’t see any intelligent discussion developing (unfortunately).

I think that Jagex would be pleasantly surprised to see some /intelligent/ discussion about botting, how their combating it, what the scene is doing to further bots, etc.

Psh, if we’re talking international I’d be happy to go too. Unfortunately when I take more than 2 steps outside my front door I have a massive panic attack that limits my bodily functions to screaming and pissing and I need to be wheeled inside by my caretaker, so I doubt it would work out…
