It could be started back up if enough interest was generated to be sure there would be entries, there just wasn’t enough interest before.
Yes, I remember that. It was said that it would come back “when the board gets more popular”, and what-not. I’ve always loved it. I hope we can get some supporters for it so we can bring it back.

The badge would cause more harm than anything, if this were to happen, it would probably be best without the badge.

What would you consider be a better alternative? I wouldn’t be the one to support making an announcement in the announcements section for the winner, as I’ve always liked seeing those sort of sections reserved for changes on the forums/new staff. Perhaps the winner gets to host the next competition and make a tutorial on how they made their SOTW, which is stickied with a download until the next winner is announced?

Also, any winnings from the SotW will cause people to get upset, and cause hostility. So, in reality, any winnings from someone being decent with GFX isn’t very smart in my opinion.

You’re contradicting yourself. A custom title is a reward, which you just said people would fuss about.
Again I bring up the idea of a stickied tutorial for the winner until the next competition is held. It isn’t permanent, and it gives the winner just enough recognition by those who care to visit the graphics section.

Yes, but it appears that a reward is going to be given regardless of my opinion. So, I might as well partake in the ideas. People would also fuss about your idea. People are going to fuss regardless, that’s inevitable.

I’m not sure how the last competition was ran because I wasn’t around yet, but why don’t we have the community vote? Participants are allowed to vote for themselves, and if the community does the deciding then you can’t blame a group of judges for being biased.

Then some of the staff were the final judges, I believe.
I fail to see how that system could be troublesome. It’s not even something worth the time to fuss about, as Ruby said it’s only for one week/until the next competition is held.
Well, when we start it back up if that happens we can take action on it. There’s been quite a few badges handed out so hopefully their opinions have changed :).
